Crash Bags – A Calming Game-Changer for Sensory Spaces

At this year’s AUsome Conference “Minding the Autistic Minds”, I had the pleasure of showcasing two of our newest sensory resources — our Small and Large Crash Bags. The response? Incredible and heartfelt.

One attendee captured it perfectly:
“It’s like a wireless recharge pad for the human soul.”

A Sensory Crash Bag Large, tan in color, sits on a dark carpet in a vibrant play area with padded yellow and green panel walls featuring triangle, circle, and square shapes. A small toy nearby adds extra therapeutic benefits.

In a setting filled with noise, information, and intense social interaction, the need for sensory regulation became very real. The crash bags made a real impact. In fact anytime I looked there was always someone sitting on them!

Real Comfort in High-Demand Moments

I have asked one of my fellow exhibitor Claire Twomey from ADHD Connections  to give me a review as she found it incredibly good. This is what she shared:

“This was a high demand conference, where executive function was taxed and sensory input was constant, I found myself in need of a way to decompress. Discovering Mimi Toys’ sensory crash bags in a quiet corner was a turning point.”

Our crash bags offer something many standard bean bags and soft seating solutions lack — structure and deep pressure. The firm, foam-filled design creates a grounded, secure experience. Rather than sinking too deep or collapsing under weight, these crash bags hold their shape and offer the kind of sensory input that genuinely helps with emotional and neurological reset. Also, umlike bean bags, they make no noise...See them here

“After just an hour, I felt noticeably more regulated, focused, and ready to re-engage. The neutral tones added to the calming effect, making it easy to reset in a visually and mentally overstimulating environment.”

What Makes These Crash Bags Special?

  • Deep Pressure Support: Helps regulate overstimulation, anxiety, and sensory overwhelm
  • Structured Foam Fill: Thick and resilient, without the “too-soft” bean bag effect
  • Neutral, Calming Tones: Supports visual regulation and a peaceful environment
  • Versatile Use: Ideal for sensory rooms, schools, therapy clinics, or quiet home corners

Whether used for jumping, crashing, or simply resting, these crash bags offer multi-purpose sensory support for all ages — especially in environments where regulation is essential.

Made in Ireland with Purpose and Care

Each crash bag is handmade in County Meath using premium-grade foam and durable outer fabric in soft, neutral tones. The cover is water-resistant and machine washable and the foam components are contained in their own separate cover. Please allow a lead time of 7 to 10 days for delivery.
