Why Puppets Are More Than Just Toys...and Always Have Been
Share
Something I’ve come to appreciate over time
After years of selling toys and being consistant with my values and beliefs around play and toys, one thing stands out: some toys come and go. Others don't, and Puppets definitely don't! Everybody recognises a puppet and get what to do with it and how to play with it. It is endless possibilities...
Why puppets last
Across generations, puppets have been used for:
- Storytelling
- Teaching
- Expression
Simple, traditional play that usually get children and families to connect and play together. Puppets are a type of toy that can be used, stored and used again and still have a WOW effect.
What I see today
In homes, classrooms, and therapy settings, puppets are still being used to:
- Build connection
- Support communication
- Encourage imagination
- Pure fun and laughter
This is not theory, I do believe that this is the reality!
Final thought
In my experience, a puppet isn’t just a toy a child plays with. It’s something they connect through. A toy that gives them independence. Puppets make really good presents, particularly if you are not sure of what to buy, children will always know what to do with a puppet.
